Course Description

The purpose of this course is to strengthen the ethical awareness and decision-making skills of frontline workers in the NDIS context. Ethical dilemmas are a regular part of disability support work, and the choices made by workers directly affect participant safety, dignity, and quality of life. This training will give participants a structured understanding of ethics as a professional framework, rather than just a personal viewpoint. It aims to build confidence in identifying ethical issues, applying clear reasoning, and taking responsible action in line with NDIS Practice Standards. By the end of the session, learners will recognise that ethical decision-making is not about guesswork but about applying consistent principles to protect both participants and workers.

Course Outcomes

By the end of this training, learners will be able to:

  • Define ethics and professional values in a disability support context and explain how they differ from personal morality.
  • Identify risks and ethical challenges that commonly arise in frontline practice, including conflicts of interest, privacy concerns, and inappropriate use of authority.
  • Apply structured frameworks for ethical decision-making to ensure consistent, fair, and participant-centred outcomes.
  • Follow reporting pathways and procedures to raise concerns or address ethical breaches in line with organisational protocols.
  • Align day-to-day practice with NDIS Practice Standards and organisational policies, ensuring integrity, accountability, and respect for participant choice and control.
