CORE ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER PEOPLE

This section provides an essential foundation for understanding the principles and practices that underpin the support provided to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants. The core content addresses key themes central to delivering culturally safe, inclusive, and respectful support services. These themes are vital for aligning with NDIS Practice Standards and complying with relevant Australian legislation.

Advanced
COMPLEX BOWEL CARE

Complex bowel care is a high-intensity support area under the NDIS Practice Standards. It involves assisting participants with specialised bowel management, including the administration of enemas, suppositories, and monitoring bowel health. This course introduces learners to safe and respectful practices, roles and responsibilities, and compliance requirements.

The training ensures support workers understand both the clinical aspects of bowel care and the importance of preserving participant dignity, privacy, and choice during care delivery.

Intermediate
DIABETES MANAGEMENT

This program provides staff with the knowledge and skills to recognize symptoms, follow safe procedures, and act appropriately in emergencies. It builds competence, reduces risks, and ensures staff can support participants in line with organizational policies and national standards.

Basic
NDIS WORKERS SCREENING AND RISK

The purpose of this course is to build the competency, confidence, and professional accountability of NDIS workers and staff involved in recruitment, management, and compliance. It provides a structured understanding of how NDIS Worker Screening operates as part of the broader safeguarding framework, ensuring that only suitable and trustworthy individuals deliver supports and services to people with disability. Learners will gain the ability to interpret legal requirements, assess worker suitability, and respond appropriately to changes in risk. This course promotes ethical decision-making, awareness of professional obligations, and the importance of transparent and consistent screening practices within every NDIS-registered organisation.

Advanced
CHEMICAL RESTRAINT

The purpose of this course is to provide NDIS and disability support workers with the knowledge and skills to understand, identify, and manage the use of chemical restraint in practice. Chemical restraint is one of the most regulated restrictive practices and carries significant ethical, legal, and health implications.

By the end of this training, learners will be able to distinguish between chemical restraint and appropriate medical treatment, recognise the risks and impacts of misuse, apply correct protocols, and comply with reporting requirements under the NDIS Practice Standards.

The ultimate goal is to protect the dignity, human rights, and safety of people with disability, while promoting positive behaviour support strategies and working towards the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices.

Advanced
COMPLEX WOUND MANAGEMENT

Complex wound management is a critical skill for support workers and care staff who assist participants with high-intensity daily personal activities under the NDIS. This course introduces learners to the principles of skin integrity, wound prevention, and evidence-based wound care practices. It covers the recognition of different types of wounds, risk factors for skin breakdown, and the importance of following a registered nurse’s wound management care plan. Learners will also explore documentation requirements, infection control practices, and strategies for early escalation of concerns to prevent complications. By the end of the session, participants will understand their role in maintaining participant safety, dignity, and wellbeing through effective wound management.

Advanced
RISK MANAGEMENT PLAN

Equip disability and aged-care workers with a practical, step-by-step method to create, implement, and review a Risk Management Plan (RMP) that protects participants while upholding choice, control, and dignity of risk. The session translates NDIS Practice Standards into everyday actions like hazard identification, risk rating, least-restrictive controls, documentation, escalation, and review so teams can prevent incidents, learn from near misses, and demonstrate compliance to auditors and families.

Advanced
SEVERE DYSPHAGIA MANAGEMENT

The purpose of this training is to equip support workers and care staff with the knowledge and practical skills required for the safe and effective management of severe dysphagia.

Dysphagia is more than just “difficulty swallowing” in its severe form, it can lead to aspiration, pneumonia, malnutrition, and even death if not recognised and managed properly. By completing this course, learners will be able to identify risks, support participants with safe feeding techniques, and follow appropriate escalation pathways in line with NDIS Practice Standards.

Importantly, this course is not only about physical safety but also about maintaining dignity, independence, and quality of life for participants living with severe swallowing difficulties.

Advanced
PREVENTING FRAUD AND MISUSE OF FUNDS IN NDIS

The purpose of this course is to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and awareness of NDIS workers and staff in safeguarding children and young people. Safeguarding goes beyond simply responding to incidents, it is about proactively creating safe, supportive, and empowering environments where children’s rights, dignity, and wellbeing are protected at all times.

This training ensures that staff understand both their individual and organisational responsibilities under the NDIS Practice Standards, the Code of Conduct, and relevant state and federal child protection laws.

Learners will develop the confidence to recognise risks, act appropriately, and follow the correct procedures when concerns arise.
