Advanced
The purpose of this course is to provide advanced knowledge and applied skills in hazard identification and risk management within disability support environments. In NDIS workplaces, risks and hazards are present in many forms, ranging from physical dangers such as slips and trips, to psychosocial risks like stress or challenging behaviours.
This course helps staff understand how to systematically identify hazards, assess their impact, and implement appropriate control measures. By mastering these skills, learners will enhance participant safety, protect staff wellbeing, and ensure organisations remain compliant with legislative and NDIS requirements.
Intermediate
The purpose of this course is to provide NDIS and community care workers with the essential knowledge, skills, and strategies required to work safely and effectively when operating alone. Lone working in community and home-based care presents unique risks, including physical hazards, exposure to challenging behaviours, and the absence of immediate support in emergencies. This training equips workers to identify these risks, apply preventative strategies, and follow organisational protocols with confidence. By completing the course, learners will not only protect their own health and wellbeing but also ensure that participants receive safe, dignified, and compliant services in line with the NDIS Practice Standards and Work Health and Safety requirements.
Basic
The purpose of this course is to provide community support workers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to ensure safety when operating vehicles in participant transport. Vehicle safety in the NDIS sector is not just about driving correctly, it is also about protecting participant wellbeing, ensuring compliance with laws and organisational policies, and reducing risks for both workers and participants. By completing this training, learners will understand how their daily driving and vehicle maintenance responsibilities contribute to the broader goals of participant safety and service quality. This sets the foundation for responsible and accountable practice within the community support environment.
Intermediate
The purpose of this course is to equip community and disability support workers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to manage sharps and prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Sharps injuries pose significant health risks, including the potential transmission of serious diseases such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV. Beyond health implications, improper handling of sharps can create legal, compliance, and organisational risks, particularly in settings regulated by the NDIS and Australian infection control frameworks. This course provides clear guidance on safe handling, correct disposal, and immediate response procedures to protect workers, participants, and the broader community. It is not only about following rules but also about embedding safe practices into daily routines to promote a culture of vigilance, accountability, and responsibility.
Advanced
The purpose of this course is to provide advanced training in the correct selection, use, and disposal of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in disability and aged care practice.
PPE is not just about wearing gloves or masks; it represents a structured barrier system that protects both workers and participants from the spread of infectious diseases and harmful exposures. In this module, learners will gain deeper knowledge on advanced practices such as correct donning and doffing sequences, managing PPE shortages, and recognising risks associated with improper disposal.
The course also ensures learners understand their compliance obligations under the NDIS Practice Standards, WHS legislation, and the Australian Guidelines for Infection Prevention and Control. Ultimately, this training equips workers with confidence to maintain safety and dignity for participants while fulfilling professional and regulatory requirements.
Basic
The primary purpose of this course is to give NDIS support workers and related staff the ability to create and maintain safe, supportive, and compliant home environments for participants. A safe home is not only free from immediate hazards but also promotes independence, dignity, and wellbeing. This training will help workers develop practical skills in hazard identification, safe equipment use, emergency planning, and applying compliance frameworks.
By completing the course, workers will be able to balance participant choice and control with their duty of care, ensuring services meet the expectations of NDIS Practice Standards and community safety requirements.
Intermediate
The purpose of this course is to provide NDIS workers and staff with the ergonomic knowledge and safe work practices required to reduce the risk of workplace injuries and improve wellbeing. In disability and aged care environments, support tasks often involve physical effort, repetitive movements, or the use of specialised equipment, all of which can create risks if not managed safely.
By equipping staff with the right knowledge and skills, the course ensures they can work in a way that protects their health while also ensuring participants receive care that is safe, comfortable, and respectful. It also supports organisations in meeting their duty of care obligations and complying with NDIS Practice Standards and WHS legislation.
Intermediate
The purpose of this course is to equip NDIS workers and staff with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to prevent, identify, and respond to workplace bullying and harassment. These behaviours can severely impact not only the health and wellbeing of staff but also the quality of care provided to participants. This training ensures that all workers understand their obligations under Australian laws, workplace health and safety frameworks, and NDIS Practice Standards. By completing this course, learners will gain practical strategies to address inappropriate behaviours, create safer workplaces, and contribute to a culture of respect and accountability.
Basic
The purpose of this course is to provide staff with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to safely transport NDIS participants while upholding their dignity and wellbeing. Transport safety is more than just driving from one place to another. It involves identifying risks, applying correct procedures, and maintaining compliance with both legal and organisational standards. Staff will learn how to manage diverse participant needs, respond to emergencies, and embed safety into everyday practice.
By the end of the training, learners will understand that safe transport is not only a legal requirement but also a core responsibility in delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
